I've heard from some of you, but haven't written back. I keep thinking that I'll do it when I have the time to devote to you that you deserve, but...

Great Plays for 7th Graders
If you could work with any play and a group of 7th grade students, what play would you choose?
I wish I could help you on this one. Really the only plays I did were in high school. My favorite was a mystery dinner theater. Yes, that was awesome! So no real good ideas here but I will ask around :)
Depends on what time of the year it is...early 7th graders I like to stay simple with broad melodramas...later in the year, we often tackle some simpler Shakespeare like Midsummer or Macbeth (I use the adaptations by Albert Cullum). I've also used Star Trek scripts, Twilight Zone scripts, scripts I've adapted from old monster movies, mysteries and comic book stories (Dick Tracy etc.)
For me, I think its like high interest/low ability readers - the content has to be intriguing but the acting requirements should be fairly broad.
But again, in my experience, Spring 7th graders can take on a lot more. Also, the selection process is important too - if they are self-selected, you can likely take on more sophi sticated work. If it is an all-class activity, keep it more general.
